Create a Strong Relationship with Your Virtual Assistant

Finding a dream virtual assistant is a wish come true! Especially if you are earning loads of rewards for having an assistant that makes your job easier.

It’s the best feeling when you have a trustworthy virtual assistant which you can always count on when it comes to growing your business and achieving success.

Because virtual assistants work remotely, we occasionally forget that they are human beings just like us and require communication, engagement, and motivation. Here is a simple guide that you can follow to nurture a fruitful relationship with your VA.

Maintain strong communication with your Virtual Assistant.

This is the most crucial aspect of your relationship with your virtual assistant. You might be working with a virtual assistant that has a different time zone from yours. Sometimes, communication becomes difficult, but the difference between the clocks shouldn’t hinder your communication and you must come up with a plan to communicate despite time zone differences. Plan out a time for voice or video calls. It could be once per week, once per month, or twice a month.

Your VA will feel appreciated and become more comfortable if they know what’s happening in your business. Regular check-ins are enough to strengthen this relationship. When a virtual assistant feels appreciated by their employer, they are motivated to put in more effort.

Be Real to Your VA and Don’t Assume.

Virtual assistants are no magic solutions for your business problems. VAs’ main purpose is to help you free up your daily tasks, working with your mundane works or administrative tasks that are time-consuming on your end.

Also, don’t expect too much from your VA since they are not you.

Your VA will do things differently from your own process of doing them. That is why it is better that you become more flexible on the things you expect from your virtual assistant. A Virtual Assistant will do their best to do what you want, but if you are unclear about what you want, you will not get it.

It is also effective if you could give time for your VA to change their working styles so they could adapt to your type. Virtual assistants, despite their skills and capabilities, will always need room for learning and adjustments.

Always trust your VA.

Building trust among your VA’s has the added benefit of keeping them engaged. Having the time to train your VA on how the process goes is essential to develop mastery of the task and to work with the least supervision and independently in the future.

Keep in mind that VAs don’t like micromanagers, and it creates a negative environment for them, thus, lowering their productivity and satisfaction in the work they do.

Respect your VA.

Respecting your VA does not only mean answering their questions or asking their suggestions and ideas. Respect also means paying your VA on time and acknowledging the fact that they are also human beings, not robots that could work anytime.

You must understand that they also have lives away from the work they are in.

Developing respect for your VA will certainly help in creating a stronger bond.
