Common Mistakes in UI Design

  • Mar 15, 2024

The effectiveness of UI design can be the difference between a very effective program and one that falls flat—or, worse yet, one that leaves a vividly negative impression on the user!

All of the little nuances are extremely important when it comes to producing high-quality apps.

Here are UI design blunders you should avoid at all costs.

    • Your UI elements’ needless consistency. Avoid utilizing too many different styles to produce a smooth and concise app. Your users will get mixed messages from this! Repeating patterns and pieces whenever you can be is the key. A professional-looking UI design goes a long way in building trust with your visitors and making their experience enjoyable. Additionally, it will make users’ navigation via your app much quicker.

    • Constraining design. It’s quite common to employ responsive UI design because we don’t see any need to create websites that can’t adjust to the available resolution and device size. It’s essential, especially for shopping cart websites and apps with mobile users as their target market.

    • Bad iconography. Icons might occasionally appear to be the “simplest” element of the design. They are also perceived as an “extra” decorative element by some designers, despite the fact that they constitute an essential component of contemporary interfaces. An interface comprised primarily of icons is common, particularly on mobile devices where icons serve as the equivalent of buttons. Because of this, it is crucial to select the appropriate “symbol” that accurately conveys the meaning of the element and to maintain a consistent UI design for the icons throughout your program.

    • Low contrast. On a composition, contrast is everything. When there is little difference between interface elements, everything blends together and becomes difficult to read because it all seems the same. Low usability is correlated with low contrast.

  • Using inappropriate or low-quality images. Photos in your interface will help to convey a story, so choose a compelling image that complements the story and the appearance of your program.
